Limmen NP - Butterfly Springs

Sun (4/8) and Mon (5/8) After our walk through the lost city, we packed up and drove about 30km north to Butterfly Springs. No issues with tyres or other equipment today.

This area is named because of the natural spring and waterhole and the butterflies that live near the rock face. No crocs, so safe to swim. The water was a tad cool, but so refreshing after the heat and dust. The days are getting into the 30s. It cools off to mid teens at night, so that is good. Having water that you can access without fear of being eaten is such a bonus in this countryside!

We swam (often) and rinsed the dust of our clothes at the waterhole and then had a lovely lazy afternoon. There are more people here but still very mellow. It seems that the people who drive this road are a different demographic to the regular "grey nomad" in the big van with the TV dish. This lot is a much more laid back, mellow group.

We decided to stay a second night and have an easy day. We went for an early morning walk on Mon. Mike went up and across the escarpment and Karyn took a more sedate amble out along the base of the escarpment.

Butterfly (look hard).....

Springs (much more obvious) - there is a little waterfall feeding into the waterhole.....
