Kakadu - Yellow River sunrise & sunset cruises

Fri (16/8) we were up early for a 2 hour cruise starting at 6:45am. Absolutely stunning!

We started as the light was just coming, with mist on the water, and watched as the sun rose. We started in Jim Jim Creek and made our way out to the South Alligator River.

The scenery was magnificent.....

The crocs prolific......

And the birds amazing.....

Jabirus

Sea eagles

Night heron

Azure kingfisher

Forest kingfisher

Pygmy geese

And many more.

We finished the morning with a fantastic buffet breakfast at the lodge.

Wow!

And then we did it all again at 4:30pm. They had a deal where you get a second cruise very cheap. It was a slightly different route, a lot hotter and probably less birds and crocs, but still amazing. And we got to see the sun set over the billabong. There was a bit of smoke haze, so it was a fiery red ball.
