Borroloola

Fri (2/8) Started the day with a walk around the park and waterfront at King Ash Bay in the cool of the morning. Talked to some interesting people and got some good info about the Roper Bar road.

Then we packed up and drove the 20km back into Borroloola. We will spend the night here before heading north further up the gulf towards Roper Bar tomorrow.

We have Telstra coverage so time to catch up on some emails and bill paying. No Optus so phone calls will have to wait.

Also a chance to wash out some of the dust. The caravan park is lovely and shady and cool after the heat and dust at King Ash Bay yesterday.

We went for a swim at the local pool and drove around the town feeling slightly uncomfortable about where we should and shouldn't be. It's a very controlled community. Mike bought some beer. It is packaged in paper bags, total of 12 cans only and you have to show Id and be breathalysed. You can only buy alcohol at the pub if you have a meal. And there are signs all over town about alcohol controlled areas.

Probably no more Telstra coverage for a while.
