Kakadu - Gagudju Campground (Cooinda)

Thur (15/8) to Fri (16/8) We banged our way out of Gumlon and headed north another 100km to Cooinda and the Gagudju resort and campground. This is a very touristy part of Kakadu. We opted for an unpowered site and ended up way down the back in the trees. Very private and shaded.

We explored through the bush at the back of the van and found a gorgeous wetland lagoon about 200 metres away. Lots of birds and quite a few mossies. But we have a good supply of DEET. It is now the hot dry season here, so mossies are at a minimum. It is very hot during the day and it is not cooling off as much at night.

There are 2 pools in this campground, so we are spending a bit of time being tourists and lazing around the pool.

Mike has even done a bit of work.

Went to an interesting ranger talk on the 6 seasons of Kakadu at a campground just down the road. It was at 7:30pm - lovely to sit out under the stars.

We also visited the cultural centre, very worthwhile.
